2006: Became only the ninth rookie in National League history to start and win an NLCS game, taking the victory in Game Six against St. Louis to force a game seven.
NCBWA Second Team Preseason All-American. Named Preseason Conference USA Pitcher of the Year. Named Preseason All-Conference USA.
At Charlotte - 2001: Named Conference USA Pitcher of the Year. Named first team All-Conference USA. Named first team All-South region by the American Baseball Coaches Association. Enjoyed arguably the greatest season on the mound in 49ers history. Set school single-season records for wins (12), starts (20) and innings pitched (134.1). Set Conference USA and school records for strikeouts with 144. Led Conference USA in wins, strikeouts and innings pitched. Broke the school record for wins when he led Charlotte to their first round Conference USA Tournament upset of top seed Tulane (5/16). Allowed 118 hits in 134.1 innings. Had six double-figure strikeout games, including a career-high 13 strikeouts against Saint Louis (5/11). Had 11 games with at least seven strikeouts. Against George Washington (2/23) had 10 strikeouts with no walks. Against UNC Asheville (3/13) had 11 strikeouts with only one walk. Combined with Matt Johnson to shut out Wake Forest (4/25) for the first time since 1998. Had three complete games. Had a 3.82 ERA and limited opponents to a .230 batting average. Also earned Conference USA pitcher of the week honors for the fourth week of the season.
2000: Won his first career start against South Florida (4/30). Won his second career start by pitching eight innings of scoreless baseball against Saint Louis (5/7). Threw his first career complete game against Houston in the Conference USA Tournament (5/20). Was 3-2 with a 5.32 ERA. Won his first career game in relief against North Carolina A & T (3/15). Had a career-high seven strikeouts against Houston (5/20) and North Carolina A & T (3/15). One of seven Charlotte pitchers with double figure strikeouts with 50 in 47.1 innings.
At North Stafford - As a senior named Commonwealth District Player of the Year. As a senior, named All-Area Player of the Year. Participated in the Commonwealth games. Two-time all-district selection. Named to Who's Who in High School Students. As a junior and senior, he helped lead his team to the Commonwealth District tournament title.
